Why Bermuda International Day?
Bermuda boasts a vast international ex-pat community and its incredibly diverse multinational-Bermudian population. Who are these people? Where do they communicate? How do they express their cultural identity? What social challenges are impacting their communities? The event, “Bermuda International Day,” is a celebration that deliberately elevates a space where each nation can connect through cuisine, charity beach games, music, and community awareness.
In collaboration with the Bermuda Tourism Authority, the Department of Parks, and the Keep Bermuda Beautiful Foundation (Charity #26), we invite you to join us on Saturday, 2nd July 2022, from 10 am – 9 pm, at Elbow Beach for the commemoration of, “Bermuda International Day.”. We believe that this is an initiative that every organization can and should get involved in because we all benefit from observing this rich cultural exchange, both professionally and personally. The same international community we deliberately celebrate through this experience are your customers, employees, friends, and neighbors.
Key Celebration Points:
We’ve partnered with the Keep Bermuda Beautiful Foundation (#26) to minimize our footprint and devise a waste management plan. All proceeds from charity games go to KBB. We’re working with the Bermuda Sandcastle Competition to offer workshops for children. There will be several charity games for beach-side fun. We have designated 10ft x 10ft spaces for your community to share your native dishes in our “International Food Vendor Village”. Sell food for donations and tell us. DONATE
FOR A TASTE
Let’s connect through cuisine and community awareness. Come share your local or regional dishes with Bermuda in the International Food Vendor Village. As we learn about your food, teach us about your culture, the people, and the things that matter most to you. We’re certain we’ll find that we have more in common than we realized.
Get with a few friends from your country or your region to share some of your favorite native dishes with us. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to participate. We have a designated 10′ x 10′ space for you to put a (1) white popup tent and (2) set up a table and (3) a ticketing system for you to sell goods for donations. All goods will be traded for a donation and proceeds will be allocated to any important social issues you have back home or you can donate funds to a charity right here in Bermuda. Recently, we raised $2000.00 BMD for Ukraine in May 2022, doing something just like this with Red Cross at Botanical gardens. You can do some good here too!
There is no fee to participate, however you do need to register! Please note, that we are grouping individuals from the same country if registered separately. Get ready to meet amazing new people from your home!
CELEBRATE DIVERSITY IN OUR
COSMOPOLITAN ISLAND PARADISE
No country maintains an embassy on the Island of Bermuda, but the U.S. and Portugal have consulates here. Many countries have appointed honorary consuls on the Island to represent their unique interests.
